The Benefice Choir

The United Benefice Choir

Our new Benefice is now made up of seven parishes. Sibbertoft, Welford, Marston Trussell, Haselbech, Kelmarsh, Naseby and Clipston. The Choir consists of members from all denominations, some religious and some non-religious, who enjoy singing good music. Our aim is to sing an Anthem at each of the United Benefice services which happen on the 5th Sunday of a month, therefore four a year. Plus a few extra performances.

We sang for the first time in Sibbertoft Church at the end of June, The Last Supper by Bernard Sexton. Our next performance was at the very successful concert “The Last Night of the Proms, Clipston style” in Clipston Church at the beginning of July, where along with the  talented visiting musicians, we led the rousing audience singing. We then sang Brother James’ Air by Macbeth Bain and Rejoice Today with one Accord by Martin Luther, accompanied by the brilliant Simon Over.  At the end of September we had a real first! The United Benefice Harvest Festival in a barn at The Wrongs outside Sibbertoft. We were made very welcome by Jaspar Hart and his family and we sang a very appropriate anthem ”Sing to the Lord of Harvest” by John Maunder.  Jane Ginns kindly came along to play her flute with myself playing the electronic keyboard kindly loaned by Alan Barraclough.

We would very much welcome new members to the choir, of any age or ability, from Clipston and the surrounding villages who would enjoy singing good music in a group.

We rehearse alternate Thursday’s at my house in Clipston. Please contact me: Julie Connell. Tel: 01858 525336. E-mail: j.connell118@btinternet.com
